In Loving Memory of
Nathanielle Noelle Riley
Born to Heaven December 9, 1998

Please God, make them remember that
Today is a special, birthday.
Make them understand that
The memories don't go away.
Bless them, with ears to hear and hearts that care.
Enable them to listen while I share.
Shelter them that they may never know my pain.
Help them to help me know that my child's life
was not in vain.
Help them to remember, Lord that I wish
That my child was here
So we could still celebrate.
To understand that I still
Feel the nearness of my child.
To see beyond my smile and the Words, "I'm okay."
Please God, just let one remember today
Is a special birthday!

Many happy returns on the day of thy birth
May sunshine and happiness be given
And may the Dear Lord prepare you on earth
For the beautiful birthday in heaven.

Someone new has entered our eternal home above
the heavenly gate has opened wide to welcome one we love.
We cannot help the tears that fall
our hearts need time to grieve,
When earthly life has ended and a loved one has to leave.
Yet even in the saddest time,
we know our Savior lives,
and we can trust completely in the promise that He gives.
That in a glad reunion with the Lord our loved ones wait
to welcome us in joy
with no more tears beyond the gate.

Before I Knew You
From the day I first knew you existed
I loved you.
As you grew inside me each day
I loved you more.
And then you died.
Before I ever felt you kick,
Before I could ever hold you in my arms,
Before I could nurture you at my breast,
You died.
Now I will never cuddle, sing to, rock,
bathe, burp, hug or kiss you.
One day
I will see you in heaven;
And then I will hold you and
tell you how much I love you.

For Nathanielle, my little girl...

No More
The laughter of a child playing with some balls
The ingenuity of a little girl building with sticks
The comforting of a mother when she falls
This will happen no more

The hopes and dreams of her future
The Christmas lights with ooohs and aaaaws
The love the parents have to nurture
This will happen no more

But in the future, we will see all in that place
Whose life was too short for this world
And in heaven there will be joy and grace
When Jesus says to pain and suffering - NO MORE.
love, your Daddy

I Cried For You
Tonight I ached & cried for you
The broken promise of life brand new
In one more month you would be due
To be born, strong & alive
If instead you hadn't died
While you were still inside
The very safest place, I thought At least the womb had really ought
But within was danger fraught
A tangled cord; you struggled, caught
Ever tighter slid the knot
Until you simply stopped
To live, your heart to beat
To flail your arms & kick your feet
Your oh so tiny little feet
I still remember how very small
Your feet and hands, like a little doll
In my palm I held you all
Five inches that you were
And your body did not stir
You drew no breath, sweet & pure
You never saw the bright daylight
Or the twinkling stars in the night
(Although in heaven there must be sights
Much brighter & fairer by far
Than anything we call a star
And I know that's where you are)

My precious baby, I love you so
My baby who did to heaven go
I miss you so & always will
My baby, born still
love, your Mommy

He Carries Them
By Penny Schaeffer
(This is the song we had sung at Nathanielle's memorial service.)

There's a special nursery on high
Where precious infants don't cry
There are are no more hurts, no more tears
Fro the Shepherd calms every fear

He carries them in His arms
He carries them in His arms
He gathers the lambs in His tender love
And carries them close to His heart

Every tiny finger holds tight
To the Hand of Wisedom & Light
And the angels rock them to sleep
Safe & warm, and loved they will keep

And on grand & glorious day
I'll be there to watch them at play
See ther smiles & hear hear laughter ring
To this hope my heart ever sings

Dear Momma,

I know how much you love me
And I know how much you care.
I know that you're still wishing
That I could be down there.
I know this day is hard for you
And I know you'll probably cry.
And Jesus know you're hurting too
And He understands just why.
I wish that I could be there
To wipe away your tears.
But I'm up here with Jesus now
And in some future year,
We all will be together
And there will be no more tears.
And we'll get to know each other
Like we always wanted to.
But for now just know I love you
And Jesus loves you too.
My Father here in Heaven
Watches over me for you.
And He's sending someone to you
That I already know.
Someone you and Daddy can love
And touch and hold.
A little person bright and new
Whose life you two will mold.
So please remember Mommy
This new baby on your knee,
Is bringing to you from above
A little part of me.

Love, your little girl
