This beautiful gift was given to me by my dear friend, Joyce.
In Loving Memory of Annette Lansley Able Sobien
My Mom, My Best Friend
July 5, 1937 - February 15, 2012
The top picture is one of my favorites, my mom and I on my wedding day. Then some pictures of my mom and I having fun at Soergel's Orchard and then enjoying a party together.
Then me with my parents on my college graduation day. I miss both of them desperately.
The hardest thing I've ever had to do,
was to tell you it was ok to let go,
and say my last good-bye to you.
You fought so hard, for so long,
your courage and strength will always inspire me,
but the war is over, you've faced a new dawn.
You were my mother and lifelong friend,
always with your unconditional love,
all of the memories now are heaven sent.
As I go through the rest of my days,
you will live on deep inside of me,
in my heart...forever and always.
I Love You, Maria
These are seven very special gifts for my Mom from my friend Marie.

My Mom loved owls, so that is why I chose the owls for the backgrounds and graphics on her web pages.
Thank you to my dear friend, Saralyn, for fixing the owl background to coordinate with the rest of my Mom's web page!

My Mother, Annette Lansley Able, was born and raised in Surrey, England, near London.
My Mom with her brothers, Victor and the late Tony.
My Mom with her Dad. He died after a tree fell on him while he was working with the Avalon Municipal Crew in the 1970's. He also was an avid gardener, that must be where she got her love of gardening.
She met her husband, the late Francis Sobien, while he was stationed in England during his stint in the U.S. Marines Corp. Shortly after meeting Francis, she accepted his marriage proposal and came to the U.S. with him. She became a U.S. citizen
once arriving in our country.
Left to right: My Mom holding me, the late Uncle Mick holding his daughter Tina, Aunt "Bubbles" holding her daughter Jackie, our Nanna (my Mom's mother) holding my brother Frank, our Grandad (my Mom's father) holding my brother Chuck and my Dad kind of reclining in the front. One of my favorite family pictures!

Fortunately, someone always took pictures for any occasion,
so we have lots of pictures of my Mom enjoying herself!
Don't think of her as gone away-
her journey's just begun,
life holds so many facets-
this earth is only one. . .
Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.
Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of her as living
in the hearts of those she touched. . .
for nothing loved is ever lost-
and she was loved so much.

One of my Mom's favorite singers was Rod Stewart. That is why
the song playing on this web page is his "Have A Told You Lately That I Love You."
My Mom loved all of Rod Stewart's Great American Songbook CDs, so I had bought all of them for her.
I will listen to them in her memory, sigh.
A friend can hear a tear drop.
