Streets Paved With Gold

I had a dream last night, and I saw the Lord and fell upon my knees
He was standing on a gold paved street 'neath the shade of golden trees
His Countenance more brilliant then any mind conceives
I said "Lord, Will you please help me and explain some things to me?"

You took this child of mine and I've asked you countless times
why you had to take her when she hadn't even reached her prime?
She took our hearts with her and we were left behind to grieve
This all seems too unnatural, so far beyond belief

You looked at me so tenderly, with kind compassionate eyes and
like a whispering wind you spoke in words that could not be defined
Perhaps t'was heaven's language, but as clear as a crystal spring
You told me to listen in silence and then you told me many things

You took my child by the hand to walk with you on streets of gold
Where angels live and their choirs sing before your heavenly throne
You said her circle was complete and it was time that she came home
That one day I would understand the mysteries known by You alone

I said "Dear Lord, with due respect, you gave her as a gift to me,
Why would you take her, she was so young, you knew that she was mine?"
You looked at me with tenderness and spoke words like none I'd heard before.
You said "No my child, she was not yours, but I only lent her to you for a time.

I chose you to raise her up for me, so she could one day live with me eternally,
To serve me and to love me and her mission there was done, and so I set her free."
"I called her home in my good time, I blew the breath of life in her and she was mine,
But forever she'll be tied to you, now and for all eternity, with that tie that binds
a mother and her child, and the separation is only for awhile."

And when I call your name, you'll see her once again
As she stands waiting with me at heaven's door
Where's there will be no more tears or sorrow, nor pain or nights of wintry cold
To greet you as you climb the stairway that lead to streets paved with gold
Where your special crown awaits you as you enter the kingdom of your eternal home

Within My Tear
You seek to find the friend in me,
With a desire upon your face,
But not finding what you see,
For a stranger has taken my place.
You seek the friend of yesterday,
When my child was still alive,
Deeply feeling the things you say,
In hope your friend will revive.
That friend is here, hidden from view,
Behind the veil of grief filled cries,
Trying to believe it cannot be true,
Looking through pain soaked eyes.
Search for me with deep love,
Knowing my heart is no longer here,
But held in God's sweet hands above,
So, to see me, look deep within my tear.

Light of the World by Danny Hahlbohm

A Mother's Crown

Heaven lit up with His mighty presence,
As all the Angels looked down,
Today the Lord was placing the jewels,
In all the mother's crowns.
As He held up a golden crown,
As all the mother's looked on,
He said in His gentle voice,
"I just want to explain each stone".

He held the first gem in His hand
But the radiance couldn't match His own.
For He was the light of Heaven,
Reflecting off each of the stones.

"The first gem," He said, "is an emerald,
And it's for endurance alone,
For all the nights you waited up.
For your children to come home.
For all the nights by their bedside,
You stayed till the fever went down,
For nursing every little wound,
I add this emerald to your crown."

"A ruby, I'll place by the emerald,
For leading your child in the right way,
For if you hadn't taught them about me,
They wouldn't be here with you today.

For always being right there,
Thru all life's important events,
I give you a sapphire stone,
For the time and love you spent."

"For untying the strings that held them,
When they grew up and left home,
I give you this one for courage."
Then the Lord added an amethyst stone.

"I'll place a stone of garnet," He said,
"For all the times you spent on your knees,
When you asked me to take care of your children,
And them for having faith in me."

"I have a pearl for every little sacrifice,
That you made without them knowing,
For all the times you went without,
To keep them happy, healthy, and growing."

"And last of all I have a diamond,
The greatest of all gems,
For those mother's who lost their children,
When they came home to heaven before them."
"This is the most precious sacrifice,
So I give the most precious stone,
For I know just how you felt,
I too lost a child of my own."
After the Lord placed the last jewel in,
He said, "Heaven is now complete,
For every mother has her crown of jewels,
And all her children are at her feet."

SAY MY CHILDS NAME
The mention of my child's name
may bring tears to my eyes,
But it never fails to bring music to my ears.
If you are really my friend,
let me hear the music of her name!
It soothes my broken heart and sings to my soul!
