In Loving Memory of
Joseph Charles "Chad" Benson, Jr.
October 1, 1974 - January 10, 2008

Oh how I miss this beautiful smile and his big heart.

Rachael and Chad celebrating New Year's Eve 2000 together.
Best friends and siblings.

Christmas 2001 with the family. A treasured picture of Chad and myself. Oh how I miss him.

Dearest Chad…

Sleep in peace, precious son.
Your battle on this earth is done.

You came to us and brought us joy-
This full of life, little boy.

As you walked your path through life,
You often found an inner strife.

Always looking for the light,
You searched for your life, what was right.

Now you join our Father’s son.
True peace for you has begun.

Our hearts break for what we could not give you,
But you know that this we will do –

Miss you on our daily walks,
Long to have our little talks,
Pray for heavenly grace and send you love,
Until we meet, rest with our Father above.

Sleep in peace, precious son.
Your battle on this earth is done.

The poem above was written for Chad by one of our best friends. She woke up
the night or two after he died and wrote it down. She loved Chad as her own.

What a little cutie!

I miss this sweet smile of Chad's. This photo was taken in the fall of 1982.

I really wanted to share the portrait of Chad. I am so overwhelmed by this gift and I can not wait to have it framed. Looks so much like Chad. Miss him!

These are three beautiful and loving gifts for Angel Chad from my dear friend, Marie.

A picture of Chad fishing in his early teens.

Chad loved the outdoors and sports, fishing.

Chad's Dad played football for FSU seminoles. He loved FSU.

My Angel's name is Joseph Charles Benson, Jr. He went by Chad. He was born on October 1, 1974. Chad went to be with Jesus on 1-10-08.

Chad's House. He was so proud of his house and especially it was built the year I was born.

This is Chad's headstone. He is buried next to my dad.

Stepping Stones

Come...take my hand the road is long
We must travel by stepping stones...'re not alone...I'll go with you
I know the road well...I've been there
Don't fear the darkness...I'll be with you
We must take one step at a time
But remember...we may have to stop awhile
It is a long way to the other side
And there are many obstacles you must face

We have many stones to cross...some are bigger than others
Shock...denial...pain and anger to start
Then comes guilt...despair and loneliness
It's a hard road to travel but it must be done
It's the only way to reach the other side
Come...slip your hand in mine

What? Oh's very strong
I've held so many hands like yours see...I had to take someone's hand
In order to take the first step
Oops! You've stumbled...go ahead and cry
Don't be's ok...I understand
Let's wait here awhile and get your breath
When you're stronger we'll go step at a time
There's no need to hurry...we have time on our side's so nice to hear you laugh again
Yes..I agree...
The memories you shared with me are good
They will live in you for all of eternity
Look...we're halfway there now
I can see the other side...
it's so warm and filled with laugher and sunshine
Oh...have you noticed we're nearing the last stone
and you're standing alone...
And look...your've let go of mine
We've finally reached the other side...

But wait...look back...someone is standing there
They are alone and want to cross the stepping stones
I'd better go now...they need my help
What? Are you sure...
Why...yes go ahead...of course I'll wait
You know the've been there
Yes...I agree it's your friend
To help someone else cross the stepping stones

Until We Meet Again

Each morning when we awake
We know that you are gone.
And no one knows the heartache
As we try to carry on.

Our hearts still ache with sadness
And many tears still flow.
What it meant to lose you,
No one will ever know.

Our thoughts are always with you,
Your place no one can fill.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we love you still.

There will always be a heartache,
And often a silent tear,
But always a precious memory
Of the days when you were here.

If tears could make a staircase,
And heartaches make a lane,
We'd walk the path to heaven
And bring you home again.

We hold you close within our hearts,
And there you will remain,
To walk with us throughout our lives
Until we meet again.

Our family chain is broken now,
And nothing will be the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.

A friend can hear a tear drop.
